The Institute believes — and continuously studies — that every human being operates along a spectrum from primarily logical to primarily emotional, with infinite gradations between. Psychology identifies four foundational temperaments. For the purposes of education, we work with at least sixteen — four squared — because that is the minimum resolution required to teach a real child effectively.
The 4 Foundational Temperaments

The four temperaments — Sanguine, Choleric, Melancholic, and Phlegmatic — represent the earliest systematic attempt to describe the variation in human nature. Each child carries a dominant temperament and traces of all four. A teacher who knows this teaches differently.
- Sanguine: Social, expressive, enthusiastic — learns through relationship
- Choleric: Direct, goal-driven, confident — learns through challenge
- Melancholic: Analytical, reflective, precise — learns through depth
- Phlegmatic: Calm, consistent, reliable — learns through structure

Because each person carries a mixture of all four temperaments in varying proportions, the real number of meaningful variations is at least sixteen — the MBTI framework, built on Jung's typology. The Institute applies this understanding directly to curriculum design and teacher-student matching. You can divide human character into 16 types. You can divide into 36. You can divide into infinite gradations — because every human being is a unique percentage blend. But sixteen is the practical minimum for education that actually respects who the child is.

Emotional genius. Structural permanence.
Disney is the most emotionally powerful brand in human history. But look at EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth — a geodesic sphere, a perfect structural form derived from mathematics. Emotional expression housed in a structure that will outlast everything around it. The Institute builds the same way: emotional at the surface, structurally permanent underneath.
Disney has stood for over 100 years as a symbol of how emotional storytelling, built on a structurally perfect foundation, can outlast everything around it. We apply the same logic to the Speak & Shine™ curriculum.
And yet — right in front of that structurally perfect sphere stands a billboard for the Food & Wine Festival. Disney can make the whole planet cry in 90 minutes of animation. But when it came to adding love to a real geodesic sphere in a real parking lot in Florida — they went with food and wine. Respect. We took notes. 🙂
But there is something deeper. The geodesic sphere is not simply a sphere — it is composed entirely of pyramids. Triangular faces, tessellated with mathematical precision. And at the apex of every pyramid? A single point — a vertex that holds the entire structure together. In our model, that vertex represents the person with the highest possible intellect — a mind sharp enough to cut through anything it encounters, like the tip of a blade. A military structure: disciplined, strategic, hierarchical in purpose — yet fully emotional in expression. Strategically genius. The sphere holds because the pyramids hold.
