Teachers & Buddies

One protects the quality.
One multiplies the conversation.

A supervision-led model where Teachers retain professional authority and trained adults 18+ create additional speaking opportunities within clear role boundaries.

ACADEMIC FOUNDATION

A framework the team can teach from.

Master Teachers and Buddies work from a purpose-built curriculum rather than improvising the academic pathway. Language progression is CEFR-referenced and academic communication design is informed by CPALMS standards resources.

PURPOSE-DESIGNED FOR MODERN SCHOOL USEBuilt from day-to-day school practice and operational experience.

The curriculum is prepared specifically for live international communication, from early speaking confidence through academic, research and leadership communication.

CEFRLanguage progression reference

CEFR is used as an international reference point for language development and communication expectations.

CPALMSFlorida academic reference

CPALMS standards resources inform age-appropriate academic language, literacy and communication design.

This is not a system trying to replace the Teacher. It is a system designed to make Teacher expertise travel farther.

Prepared lessons reduce reinvention. The Teacher still reads the room, makes educational decisions, protects quality and supports the people delivering additional practice.

THE TEACHER ROLE

The curriculum is built. Your judgment is not.

Teachers bring the part no template can automate: professional observation, timing, warmth, safety, explanation, intervention and the decision about what comes next.

  • Teach live communication, not worksheet completion
  • Use prepared Lesson Scenarios, Teacher Notes, Care Notes and Quality Notes
  • Observe confidence, fluency, participation and group fit
  • Make progression and educational decisions
  • Mentor Buddies and protect student experience

YOUR CONTROL ROOM

One view for teaching, availability, supervision and follow-up.

The Teacher Dashboard is designed around the work between lessons as much as the lesson itself.

  • Calendar, recurring schedules and time-zone aware assignments
  • Quality Wall access to assigned live rooms
  • Lesson Library with scenarios and guidance
  • Attendance, no-shows, cancellations and reschedule status
  • Private quality notes and parent-facing feedback
  • Per-student speaking summary over time
THE BUDDY ROLE

Adult speaking partner. Defined educational role.

A Buddy is 18+ and works within the Shining Speech™ framework. The role is deliberately narrower than the Teacher role so responsibility stays clear for students, families, partners and staff.

Buddy · 18+

What a Buddy does

  • Supports structured speaking practice
  • Follows Lesson Scenarios and Teacher direction
  • Uses Care and Quality guidance
  • Creates more conversational turns
  • Builds international communication experience
Clear boundaries

What a Buddy does not do

  • Does not replace the Teacher
  • Does not independently grade students
  • Does not independently change levels or course placement
  • Does not make formal educational decisions
  • Does not work outside defined safeguarding expectations

COLLEGE / UNIVERSITY STUDENT FAST-TRACK

Your Student ID can open more than a campus door.

Study now. Build supervised experience now.

For qualifying current college or university students, a valid/current Student ID is the key document confirming student status for the Student Fast-Track. The pathway can connect education with live communication practice, mentoring, international interaction and EdTech exposure before graduation.

Important: the Student ID requirement applies to the College / University Student Fast-Track. The General Buddy Pathway can also be available to other qualifying adults 18+ who are not current students.
WHY AMERICAN COLLEGE STUDENTS FIT THIS MODEL

Your English is already valuable. The next question is what you do with it.

THIS IS A PAID OPPORTUNITY

For a U.S. student, the Buddy role is a paid, supervised educational opportunity. Buddies are compensated for approved, completed sessions while building practical experience in international communication, mentoring, leadership and EdTech.

01

International Communication

Practice explaining ideas to learners from different language and cultural backgrounds.

02

Mentoring

Learn to support without taking over, correct without crushing momentum and listen for what a learner needs.

03

Leadership

Develop presence, responsibility and the habit of guiding a small room.

04

EdTech Exposure

Work inside a role-based education platform with scheduling, lessons and quality workflows.

05

Portfolio Value

Documented training or participation may be available where applicable; references depend on successful participation.

Participation does not guarantee employment, a specific number of hours, promotion, licensure or a future teaching role.

CAREER PATHWAY

Build something your résumé can actually talk about.

The pathway is developmental, not automatic. Each step depends on training, readiness, performance, qualifications and the requirements of the role.

TEACHER ONBOARDING

From registration to live supervision.

The system gives Teachers a clear operational path instead of handing them a login and hoping for the best.

02Qualifications

03Orientation

Understand roles and standards.

04Training Materials

05Availability

06Observation / Assignment

Move into assigned live work.

Teacher first does not mean Teacher alone.

The model lets a strong Teacher become a mentor and quality lead. Rather than repeating the same micro-conversation thirty times, the Teacher can observe more of the learning ecosystem, intervene where professional attention matters and develop the next layer of responsible educators.

GENERAL BUDDY PATHWAY · 18+

Not in college? Your pathway can begin through a local Partner training unit.

The College / University Student Fast-Track is only one door. Eligible adults 18+ who are not currently enrolled in college can enter the General Buddy Pathway and, where local Partner training is active, be directed to the nearest available participating Partner unit for onboarding and supervised preparation.

01

Ask your school first.

Ask a school, college, academy or education organization you already know: “Are you already a Learn & Work Partner?” Your existing institution may already be part of the network.

02

If yes, start closer to home.

When the Partner operates local Buddy onboarding, orientation, observation and training can happen through that organization. This can shorten the path because the training relationship and supervising team are already local.

03

If not, we route the pathway.

Eligible non-college Buddy candidates can be directed to the nearest available participating Partner training unit. Where no local unit is operating, the General Buddy onboarding route is coordinated through the Learn & Work network.

ONE QUESTION CAN SAVE TIME

Is your school already our Partner?

Before starting from zero, check the institution already around you.

If the answer is yes, your school may already have the people, training structure and supervision pathway you need.

That means you can begin inside a familiar environment, learn the program locally and move toward supervised practice only after readiness requirements are met.

ROLE FAQ

Professional clarity before participation.

The strongest programs make responsibility obvious.

Does every Buddy need a Student ID?

No. A valid/current Student ID is required for the College / University Student Fast-Track because it confirms current student status. The General Buddy Pathway can be available to other qualifying adults 18+.

Can a college student teach independently as a Buddy?

The Buddy role is not automatically an independent Teacher role. Buddies work inside defined boundaries and under Teacher supervision where applicable.

Can a Buddy grade or change a student’s level?

No. Those are Teacher responsibilities. The Buddy supports speaking practice and follows the prepared framework.

What can a Teacher see in the platform?

The Teacher workflow includes assigned lessons, availability, lesson materials, quality supervision, attendance, reports, feedback and student speaking summaries according to role-based access.

Are teaching roles guaranteed after Buddy experience?

No. Teaching roles depend on qualifications, applicable requirements and a separate readiness/selection process.

Are lessons routinely recorded?

The current public model emphasizes live supervision. Live observation does not mean every lesson is routinely recorded.

HYBRID DELIVERY · HOW THE ROLES MEET

The classroom can be in Europe while the support team is together in Florida, or distributed online.

The school class remains physically together with at least one local Teacher. A Buddy and Master Quality Teacher can connect from the same college / school hub or from different locations. The live session, lesson framework and support relationship stay connected.

LOCAL CLASSROOM

Teacher in the room

At least one Teacher is physically present with the learners and remains the local educational authority.

BUDDY · 18+

Communication practice

The Buddy can be physically based in a Partner hub with other Buddies or can join remotely, following the prepared session scenario.

MASTER QUALITY TEACHER

Live quality layer

Supervises, coaches and supports the session, either from the same hub or online.

The goal is not to move the classroom online. The goal is to let international communication enter a classroom that remains anchored in its own school.
THE PROFESSIONAL DIVIDE IS DELIBERATE

Six Buddies can help with conversation. They still do not become six Teachers.

The role boundary protects both the child and the Teacher profession.

The Teacher owns the educational decisions.

  • Observes speaking confidence, fluency and group fit
  • Interprets progress alongside language ability
  • Decides whether a Buddy is useful for a learner
  • Reviews the 7/10 confidence prompt
  • Recommends group changes with parent agreement
  • Maintains quality and safeguarding expectations
  • Can join a live room when support is needed
  • Provides or approves follow-up and parent-facing feedback

The Buddy expands practice inside those boundaries.

  • Follows the prepared Lesson Scenario
  • Uses Care and Quality guidance
  • Keeps the learner speaking and responding
  • Supports turn-taking and engagement
  • Builds rapport without becoming the academic authority
  • Does not grade or independently change levels
  • Works under Teacher supervision where applicable
  • Builds their own communication and leadership experience

STUDENT ID · EXPERIENCE BEFORE GRADUATION

A campus card can become the first credential in a bigger professional story.

The Student Fast-Track is designed for qualifying current college or university students age 18+. A valid/current Student ID confirms current student status for this pathway when verification is requested.

The value is not the plastic card itself. The value is what the student can build around it: supervised communication experience, Teacher feedback, international interaction, responsibility for a small live room, exposure to EdTech workflows and evidence of participation or training where applicable.

For communication majors

Practice audience awareness, explanation and cross-cultural communication.

For education majors

Observe professional teaching judgment and learn inside clear supervision boundaries.

For business students

Build reliability, presentation, international communication and team coordination.

For future leaders

Learn to create space for other people to speak, not simply to dominate the room.

Participation does not guarantee employment, a fixed number of hours, advancement, licensure or a future Teacher role.

HYBRID SCHOOL MODEL · LOCAL CLASSROOM + INTERNATIONAL TEAM

The class stays in school. The international team can be in the room or live online.

Up to 30 learners remain physically together at their Partner school, with at least one local Teacher physically present in the classroom. The Buddy and Master Quality Teacher can participate on-site from a school or college hub, or join live online from another location. Either way, everyone works inside the same live session, lesson structure and supervision chain.

25-MINUTE EU SCHOOL CLASSROOM · HYBRID

Local teaching stays in the room. International communication is added around it.

The Partner school keeps its classroom, its Teacher and its educational authority. A Buddy adds the live communication layer, while a Master Quality Teacher supports quality, coaching and intervention. The two international roles may be physically together at a Partner college or school, or connected remotely.

EXCLUSIVE / HIGHER-TOUCH FORMAT

The same network can place more educators around smaller groups.

Exclusive delivery can connect up to three instructional roles around one live experience. A group of up to five can work with two educators, while a fully staffed 30-learner exclusive cohort can use six direct group roles plus one Master Quality Teacher.

↔
REMOTE DELIVERY
The same team can work from different locations.

Buddy and Master Quality Teacher can connect online while the learner group remains physically at school, preserving the same live contact and role structure.

BUDDY TRAINING · TRIAL WINDOW

Five trainees can learn the same session together.

Training trials mirror the live model. Up to five Buddy candidates can join one supervised training window with a professional instructor. The instructor models the 1:1 session flow, then trainees rotate through practice, observation and feedback before direct learner work.

500-HOUR DEVELOPMENT PATHWAY

Experience is built before higher-responsibility roles.

After initial training, 500 completed supervised / delivered program hours is the experience threshold for internal pathway review toward Master Teacher / Master Quality responsibilities. At 25 hours per week, 500 hours is approximately 20 weeks. A Master Teacher role additionally requires the applicable teaching / educator license, safeguarding approval and role authorization. The 500-hour milestone alone does not create licensed Teacher status.

FLORIDA ↔ CENTRAL EUROPE

A useful transatlantic learning window.

South Florida (Eastern Time) is typically six hours behind Central Europe. That places 8:00 AM Florida at about 2:00 PM Central Europe and 3:00 PM Florida at about 9:00 PM. School partnerships can use a focused 3–5 hour Florida-morning window, while supervised individual sessions can extend across the broader Florida daytime / European after-school period.

Scheduling & role clarity: seasonal daylight-saving changeover weeks can temporarily shift the Florida–Central Europe difference by one hour, so the platform should schedule by time zone rather than fixed manual conversion. Buddy is an adult 18+ supervised communication role. The 500-hour threshold is an internal experience milestone, not an automatic teaching license, employment guarantee or automatic promotion.
25-MINUTE LESSON ARCHITECTURE

Short enough for focus. Structured enough for progress.

The same five-part rhythm moves learners from curiosity into live speaking, explanation and a clear final output.

MASTER TEACHERS · ALL SUBJECTS

You do not have to be an English teacher to lead communication quality.

We welcome licensed educators from art, mathematics, STEM, language arts, literacy, elementary education, physical education, performing arts and other subjects. What matters is an applicable teaching / educator license, native-level English communication, professional judgment and readiness to work inside the Shining Speech™ framework.

Art teacher? Math teacher? Coach or trainer with an applicable teaching license?

Yes. Master Teacher is a licensed educator role, not an English-subject label. Coaches and trainers are welcome where they also meet the applicable educator / teaching qualification for the Master Teacher role.

CHOOSE YOUR ROLE

Teach the voice. Expand the conversation. Build applied experience.

Teachers bring professional judgment. Buddies bring additional human interaction. Current college and university students can use a valid Student ID to enter the Student Fast-Track where eligible.
